Success storyWebsite redesignFreight & logistics

One front door
for every shipment.

Bowagate Global has moved cargo in and out of Nigeria since 1994. Its old website was slow, inconsistent and running on an outdated theme and plugins. We redesigned it in four weeks, rebuilt every service page and connected it to the company’s Bowago app.

The business

Three decades of trust,
one tired website.

Bowagate Global has been in freight since 1994. It runs air, sea and road freight, customs brokerage, warehousing and exports from offices in Oshodi, Ikeja and Apapa, and has handled over 18,000 shipments across a network of more than 80 countries.

The business had grown. The website had not. Pages loaded slowly, the design changed from one section to the next, and the theme and plugins underneath were out of date. For a company that sells reliability, the site was saying the opposite.

The brief was to repurpose the whole site around how customers actually buy freight services: find the right service, trust the company, and ask for a quote, without friction.

Before and after

Same company.
A better first impression.

What changed for visitors, from the first page they land on.

Before
  • Slow pages that tested a buyer’s patience
  • A design that shifted from page to page
  • An outdated theme and plugins underneath
  • No single, clear route to ask for a quote
After
  • A lean, cached build with compressed images
  • One consistent design across every page
  • Every service with its own page and quote button
  • Quote, call and WhatsApp on every page, plus the Bowago app

The hard part

Three problems to solve.

None of them were about colours and fonts.

01

Speed was costing enquiries

Freight buyers compare several forwarders at once. A slow page is an easy one to close. Load time had to come down before anything else.

02

Many services, one brand

Air, sea and road freight, customs, warehousing and exports each needed a page of their own, without the site feeling like several different companies.

03

A website and an app, working together

Customers track shipments in the Bowago app. The website had to hand them over cleanly while still doing its own job: winning new business.

01

Audit

Every page, plugin and service checked, and everything slowing the site down listed for removal.

02

Structure

Services reorganised into one clear menu, with a page each and one design system across the site.

03

Build

Pages, content and SEO written and built, forms and hosting set up, and the Bowago app linked in.

04

Launch

Live in four weeks, then tested on phones and desktop before handover.

Behind the scenes

The work most
designers skip.

The parts a visitor never sees, but the business feels every day.

Speed first

A heavy site, made light.

The old site carried an outdated theme and a stack of plugins, and every page paid for it in load time.

So we started on a lean build. A lightweight theme, page caching, compressed images and fewer plugins, so pages open quickly, even on a mobile connection.

  1. Lightweight themeA lean foundation in place of the old, heavy one
  2. Page cachingPages served ready-made instead of rebuilt on every visit
  3. Lighter imagesCompressed, modern formats that load fast on phones
SEO

Found for the right searches

Titles, descriptions and page structure set for each service, so the right page appears for the right search.

FORMS

Every enquiry lands

Quote and contact forms route straight to the team, with WhatsApp as a fallback for buyers who prefer to chat.

HOSTING

Hosted and looked after

Hosting set up and managed, with caching and email protection in place from day one.

APP

Bowago, connected

We co-planned the Bowago app with the team and linked it across the site for tracking and accounts.

Where it stands

Live, and bringing
in enquiries.

The new site went live after four weeks and has brought a steady stream of enquiries since. We keep it maintained as the business grows.
